Workout that only requires a Shoe (Turkish Getup – Part 1 ) – Time Warner News’ ACTIVE NOW

Time Warner News’ (Austin) “Active Now” spot showed me a little love last week. Here, I do my best to demonstrate the main first move of the Turkish Getup using a shoe. It’s like a sit-up but much much more. http://www.twcnews.com/tx/austin/lifestyles/2015/10/30/workout-that-only-requires-a-shoe.html http://www.twcnews.com/tx/austin/lifestyles/2015/10/30/workout-that-only-requires-a-shoe.html

Dumbbell Upgrade

New Weekly Tipz! This week the message is clear: don’t be afraid to use heavier weight. In broader terms: don’t be afraid to challenge yourself. I see it all too often, people using dumbbells (for example) that are far too easy and light. Of course, there are quite a few others ways to make any […]

The Superset

New Weekly Health & Fitness Tipz! This week i talk about what’s called the “Superset”. It’s nothing more than a way to organize different exercises so that you save time. Instead of doing just one exercise at a time then resting between each round (set), you would now group two different exercises together and perform […]

New Weekly Tipz! This week is a great time to access where we are, which is roughly 15 weeks till the end of the year, less than that till the “holidays”. Time doesn’t care if we’ve been busy. We need to know where we are exactly at this moment. Because where we are NOW has everything to do with where we are heading in the future. I’m talking about goals, dreams, the things we want from life. I say this often, and only with the best intentions: wherever we are at this present moment was made possible by our past and current lifestyle, environments and behaviors. If we want something different for ourselves in the future, we will mostly likely need to make some serious changes to the the way we think and the things we do (and don’t do). Make no mistake, this is the only way that i know conscience progress and change happens. Start slow. Build strong. (P.S i have no idea why the video is so dark. sorry. just roll with it.) New Weekly Tipz! Today is part 1 of 3 “movement routines” I use while traveling away from home. I also recommend some version of these to many. Today’s video is a simple 5 min flow that involves basic yoga type stretches and some simple bodyweight moves. No equipment needed. This isn’t a routine in use to get sweaty and all that. I primarily use this for “unwinding” my body from sitting too much and sleeping on not-so-soft surfaces. At the very least, it might make you feel a little better to start your day.

New Weekly Tipz! This week i talk about the simple fact that having only one gear in life, especially with regards to fitness & health, is typically not so desirable. Sometimes we need the flex to shift up or down a gear to make continued progress with any chosen goal. The key is always balance. Too much or too little (aka “all or nothing”) may work for some for a little while but the middle is what i believe to be the true path to longterm success and most importantly, our health and longevity.
